It should be understood that this process is mostly not a big issue because revised ROM files is mostly concerned with those issues which is not critical for the operation of that vehicle. There has however been situations where ECUs has been reflashed using incorrect programs and this has resulted in serious consequences. In the case of a performance-based reflash, any adjustments will remove the original program. This is why it is best to make a backup of the Rom so that the process can be reversed if necessary. This process requires an adequate understanding of how ECUs function. You will require a PC as well as a cable which allows this system to be connected to the ECU. This interface cable is known as an OBD-II port although it may vary according to the specific model of vehicle.
